Mkuze Airport City (Aerotropolis) Development

A 70-hectare airport-led economic hub positioning Mkuze Airport as the region's aviation gateway.

The Mkuze Airport City (Aerotropolis) Development is a strategic airport-led economic development project situated on approximately 70 hectares surrounding Mkuze Airport. The project seeks to transform the airport into a regional aviation and economic hub by integrating aviation services with commercial, tourism and logistics developments.

The precinct has been divided into two complementary development zones: approximately 34 hectares designated for non-aviation commercial and mixed-use development, and approximately 36 hectares reserved for aviation-related development and airport support services.

The project will position Mkuze Airport as the primary aviation gateway to the tourism destinations of northern KwaZulu-Natal, including iSimangaliso Wetland Park, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, Tembe Elephant Park, Kosi Bay and surrounding private game reserves.
